Projet de diplôme : Ritualized Technology

Produit : Dhy?na (??????)

Directeur de projet : Thierry FOURNIER

The word Dhyana in hindi has a dual literal meaning - to pay attention and to take care. The product embodies both these characteristics through its function. It demonstrates the mutual relationship between the brain and emotions.
It allows user to use their own self calming techniques such as meditation or even through concentrating on the activity involved in the product to lower their stress level. The product reacts to this change in stress level by producing music, the objective being to catch the music and make it grow.

The product does not inform the user whether they are stressed or not, It only makes aware of one's own emotional reactions to thoughts and generating a kind of self-empathy: a singular interaction between user and his own feelings.

The memoire involved study of the ritualized effects of digital technology on people and comparing it with the ritual practices of religion. As Bernard Stiegler puts it : while one aims at harnessing attention, the latter aims at the creation of attention.
